#240: That Time We Watched The Phantom Carriage

For the third entry of Foreign Film Month, Zach has brought to the podcast the oldest film we’ve watched so far with 1921’s The Phantom Carriage. Directed by and starring Victor Sjöström, it tells the story of a drunkard named David Holm who, on the night of New Year’s Eve, is compelled by the ghostly driver of Death’s carriage to reflect on his past mistakes. Alongside Sjöström, the film’s cast includes Hilda Borgström, Tore Svennberg, and Astrid Holm.
