#89: That Time We Reviewed Persona
For our second film in foreign film month we tackled what some call the Mount Everest of film analysis, the 1966 psychological drama, Persona. Directed by Ingmar Bergman the story revolves around a young nurse named Alma and her patient, well-known stage actress Elisabet Vogler, who has suddenly stopped speaking. They move to a cottage, where Alma cares for Elisabet, confides in her and begins having trouble distinguishing herself from her patient. Come join us as we wrap our heads around this thought provoking film.
