#223: That Time We Watched Rope

This week Ian chose our very first Hitchcock film for the podcast, 1948’s Rope. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the 1929 play of the same name, the film tells the story of two men who attempt to prove they committed the perfect crime by hosting a dinner party after strangling their former classmate to death. Starring James Stewart, John Dall and Farley Granger, this is the first of Hitchcock’s Technicolor films, and is notable for taking place in real time and being edited so as to appear as a single shot through the use of long takes.
